Barcelona forward Lionel Messi wins 2009 Fifa FIFPro World Player of the Year award

The Argentine won the prestigious award in Zurich after the 22 year-old won the vote ahead of Barça team-mates Andres Iniesta, Xavi and Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka of Real Madrid.
Messi capped a fantastic year in which he has won an unprecedented haul of six successive trophies - La Liga, European Cup, Copa del Rey, Super Cup and Spanish Super Cup and Club World Cup.
